Elden Ring Servers Overwhelmed After Shadow of the Erdtree Revelation

Posted by Bindy Kay on 27th Feb 2024

The Elden Ring servers experienced a surge in activity following the announcement of Shadow of the Erdtree.

Last week, after weeks of speculation and anticipation, FromSoftware finally unveiled the release date for the highly anticipated story DLC of Elden Ring, titled Shadow of the Erdtree. With the reveal came a first look at the gameplay of this expansion, along with answers to numerous questions from fans, including inquiries about the size of the new map.

It appears that excitement for the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree is already palpable, as Elden Ring has seen a significant increase in player numbers on Steam in recent hours. Specifically, this past Saturday, the game recorded over 101,000 concurrent players on the Valve platform, marking a remarkable milestone considering that the game was released two years ago. Such a resurgence in player activity on Steam is a sight Elden Ring hasn't seen in quite some time.

However, it's important to note that Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of Elden Ring, recently stated that players have yet to uncover a particular secret within the game. This revelation may have reignited interest among players, prompting them to revisit the game in search of new discoveries. Elden Ring's previous record for concurrent players on Steam was set two years ago when the game surpassed 953,000 players.
